Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik crafted a sand sculpture at Niladri Beach in Puri on Friday to raise awareness about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls underway in Odisha. The initiative aims to inform citizens about the ongoing voter enumeration process.
The SIR exercise began on May 20 and includes door-to-door visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from May 30 to June 28. During these visits, BLOs distribute electoral enumeration forms to voters, assist in filling them out, and collect the completed forms. In the evenings, from 3 PM to 5 PM, BLOs will also be available at polling booths to facilitate the process.
State Chief Electoral Officer RS Gopalan expressed appreciation for Pattnaik’s contribution, highlighting the importance of public participation. The draft electoral roll is scheduled for publication on July 5, followed by a claims and objections period ending on August 4. After a month-long review, the final electoral roll will be released on September 6, 2026.
Puri District Magistrate Dibya Jyoti Parida confirmed that all arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of the SIR process in the district and urged voters to cooperate with BLOs during their visits.
Further official details on the revision process and voter participation are awaited.
