A bomb attack was reported near a farmhouse at Haripur under Delang police limits in Puri district late on Wednesday night, leaving one person injured.
According to Odisha TV report, a group of youths were cooking at the farmhouse near Haripur College when a few miscreants reached the spot around 11:30 pm. They allegedly hurled three bombs in front of the farmhouse and fled.
One of the bombs exploded, triggering panic in the locality. Two other bombs remained unexploded and were later found near the farmhouse premises. Locals rushed out of their homes after hearing the loud explosion.
During the incident, the attackers also damaged the glass of a car parked near the farmhouse. One person reportedly suffered minor injuries.
Police reached the spot after being informed and started an investigation. The unexploded bombs were recovered for examination.
Preliminary investigation suggests the attack may be linked to an old rivalry over alleged illegal mining activities in the area. Sources said the farmhouse belongs to a person arrested nearly two months ago in connection with a JCB burning case linked to illegal mining. He is currently in jail.
Police suspect group rivalry behind the attack, though the exact motive is yet to be officially confirmed.
