The Puri Jagannath temple is set to receive a new door for its north gate, also known as the elephant gate. This door, crafted from Burmese wood and covered with approximately three quintals of bronze, is nearing completion and will soon be installed.
Measuring about 13 feet 6 inches in height and 3 feet 6 inches in width, the door is notably large. The backing board of the door is slightly larger, with dimensions of 13 feet 10 inches by 4 feet. The intricate work is being carried out under the supervision of artisan Pramod Ojha and his team in Barati village near Cuttack. They have dedicated the past three months to crafting this significant piece.
The door is scheduled to be transported to the temple’s north gate imminently, with installation expected to commence shortly thereafter. Further official details regarding the installation process and timeline are awaited.
