In Puri, an elderly couple, Dayanidhi and Pramila Behera, have been freed from prolonged mental and physical abuse inflicted by their two sons and daughters-in-law. The couple endured years of mistreatment, including denial of food and basic needs, before seeking help from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM).
Initially, the Beheras raised their sons with care and affection, expecting support in their later years. However, as the sons grew older, they reportedly subjected their parents to continuous torment. Despite a prior directive from the SDM requiring the sons to provide a monthly allowance of Rs 10,000, the sons failed to comply, worsening the situation.
Following the couple’s complaint, the SDM registered a case and ordered the eviction of the sons, their wives, and a grandchild from the parental home. The eviction took place last Friday, with the family’s belongings returned to them.
